SEPTA Updates
On June 26, 2025, the SEPTA Board voted to close the transit agency’s recurring operating deficit through significant service reductions and fare increases.
Barring state funding, service cuts and route eliminations are scheduled to take effect starting on August 24, with fare hikes beginning September 1.
SEPTA has published detailed information on its website to help riders understand how these changes may impact their travel.
The University is actively evaluating how these measures may affect participants of our Commuter Benefits program, exploring possible adjustments to the benefit to mitigate commuting costs. The timing and specifics of any changes are contingent on the outcome of ongoing funding discussions between SEPTA and the state.
