Evening Safety Shuttle Ride-Share
Penn Transit operates an evening safety shuttle ride-share service, which provides transportation free of charge to or from Penn Transit stops on campus to any address within the service boundaries. Passengers need to show their PennCards to board the shuttle and may bring up to two guests with them. Penn Evening Shuttles operate year-round except for University holidays.
Note that wait times may vary due to ride-share demand. Penn Bus is often a faster option. Use the "Trip Planner" feature in PennTransit Mobile to find your best route in real time.

Hours of Operation
Penn Evening Safety Shuttle ride-share services operate seven days a week from 7:30 PM–3AM Monday - Friday and 6 PM–3 AM Saturday - Sunday, with the following exceptions:
- Shuttles that run east to a Center City location operate Monday – Friday 12 - 3 a.m. and expand service to 6 p.m. – 3 a.m. Saturday – Sunday.
- Penn Transit does not operate on holidays observed by the University of Pennsylvania.

Shuttle Basics
Here are some tips for riding our shuttles:
All Evening Safety Shuttle trips must begin or end at the nearest Penn Transit stop.
To expand coverage, we’ve added five new stops for the 2025-26 academic year:
- 3701 Market Street
- 3440 Market Street
- 34th & Chestnut (NW corner)
- Stellar-Chance Laboratory (422 Curie Boulevard)
- 3600 Civic Center Blvd
These additions are expected to put 98% of requests* within one block of a Penn Transit stop, with the remaining few typically around two blocks away.
When you tap “On Demand” in PennTransit Mobile, the app will suggest the nearest stop to your pickup or drop-off location. Select your preference and submit your request.
Example: Traveling from 33rd & Chestnut? Select the 34th & Chestnut stop and enter your destination.
For added convenience, Penn Walking Escorts are available 24/7 to accompany you to or from any campus location, including transit stops. Request one by calling 215-898-WALK (9255) or use a campus blue-light or building ePhone.
Note that a valid ride request for on-campus travel must be for at least a 1/2 mile.
Early Morning Medical Transportation
A limited early-morning service from campus to off-campus locations is available from 3 AM to 7 AM for approved medical interns and students only. Service is not provided during that time to 30th Street Station. Riders may use LUCY service (Loop Around University City) to get to 30th Street Station from 6 AM to 7 PM.
