Penn Accessible Transit (PAT)

Service Overview

Penn Accessible Transit (PAT) is a ride service offered for persons with mobility issues. The service requires pre-approval from either the Office of Affirmative Action (for employees) and the Office of Student Disabilities (for students). Applicants will be asked questions about their health status and a doctor's confirmation will be requested.

Once an individual is approved for PAT, ride requests can be made through the PennTransit Mobile App or by calling 215-898-RIDE. PAT riders are permitted a maximum of (4) one-way rides per day unless prior approval is provided 24 hours in advance. In most cases approvals will include an end of service date, but riders can request that their approvals be renewed should the service still be needed.

PAT Services are available 7 am-7:30 pm, Monday-Friday.  After 7:30 pm riders can use Penn Transit's Evening Shuttles which operate 7:30 pm-3 am, Monday-Friday as well as 6 pm-3 am on Saturday and Sunday.  These vehicles accommodate wheelchairs, but riders are advised to choose the option for a wheelchair accessible vehicle in the mobile app (or let the dispatcher know when calling for service). There are no daytime hours on weekends when riders are encouraged to use SEPTA's Customized Community Transport (CCT) service.

Our Mobile App Makes Planning Your Trip Easy

Penn Transit Riders can use the PennTransit Mobile app to plan their rides. The app provides the current location and estimated arrival times of all buses and shuttles. It also allows you to schedule a ride on our evening shuttles. All Penn Community members with PennKey credentials should download the app in order to submit a ride request.
