Penn's Sustainable Transportation Initiative

Penn’s focus is on reducing single-occupancy vehicles through providing discounts for commuters who use public transportation, support for cyclists and operating its own transit network complete with electric vehicles.

The Association of Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) recognized Penn's transport sustainability success as a top performer in the 2021 Sustainable Campus Index, ranking 5th in transportation.

Employee Commuter Benefit Program

Penn supports a 50% discount (maximum $105) for eligible employees on most Philadelphia-based regional transportation, including SEPTA, NJ Transit, PATCO, and Amtrak. Participants can apply or update their accounts through our Commuter Portal, managed by Jawnt.

Additionally, eligible employees can sign up for a Commuter Card through Health Equity and receive a 5% discount to purchase tickets, parking, and other services from Philadelphia regional transit authorities.
