Penn’s Sustainable Transportation Initiative supports the University’s Climate and Sustainability Action Plan's goal of lowering the University’s carbon footprint. The focus of the Initiative is developing and expanding sustainable commuting options.
Discounts for Using Public Transportation
The University offers a wide array of sustainable commuter options. They are designed to accommodate a variety of circumstances and include discounted, pre-tax purchases of passes that can be used for the robust network of transit systems serving Penn’s campus.
Support for Cyclists
Penn offers reimbursement of bicycle commuting expenses to eligible employees as well as provides a variety of resources to support those who commute by bike.

The Association of Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) recognized Penn's transport sustainability success as a top performer in the 2021 Sustainable Campus Index, ranking 5th in transportation.
