HealthEquity commuter benefit users: Penn’s commuter card benefits are moving from HealthEquity to Jawnt Pass. Please review the transition details and re-enroll to continue your transit or parking benefits. Learn more and enroll.

Introducing Penn's improved commuter benefit, now with more options and ways to save.

We're rolling out a new, more flexible commuter benefit: the Jawnt Pass commuter debit card.

Jawnt Pass is a great cost-saving option for occasional commuters who don't need the commitment of a monthly pass, so you pay only for the trips you take. It gives you:

  • A mobile wallet-friendly debit card
  • Tap to Ride functionality
  • A 5% pretax discount on loaded funds

Effective July 1, Jawnt Pass will replace the Health Equity card for transit and parking accounts; any unused pre-tax transit/parking funds will be transferred to the new card. NOTE: The Health Equity debit card will remain unchanged for non-transit/parking accounts.

If you were previously enrolled with Health Equity, you'll need to re-enroll for a Jawnt Pass. Scroll down for important dates and information.

HealthEquity Debit Card Balance

If you have a commuter debit card through Health Equity, any unused transit/parking funds from your existing card will be rolled over to your Jawnt Pass debit card. Here's what you need to know about transitioning your Health Equity debit card to the Jawnt Pass debit card:

  • You will need to enroll in Jawnt to continue receiving pre-tax benefits without disruption.
  • Your remaining balance from Health Equity will be automatically transferred to Jawnt. It takes some time for banks to process this transfer, and we estimate your funds will be completely transferred in about a month.
  • You'll receive a notification from Jawnt once your Health Equity funds are available. They will automatically be applied to your monthly transit or parking balance in Jawnt.
  • Once enrolled, you can submit reimbursement requests in Jawnt if you paid for any commuting expenses out of pocket during the transition (July 1st or later).
