Student Office & Field Operations Assistant - Parking

Job Description Summary

The Office and Field Operations Assistant supports the full-time office staff in greeting customers, assigning work tickets, and completing associated office-related tasks, and also supports the hourly field operations staff in covering eligible parking attendant shifts and issuing parking citations, thereby reducing overtime burden and enhancing parking compliance, equity, and safety.

Job Description

The Office and Field Operations Assistant is a part-time, student work-study position responsible for supporting both administrative office functions and field-based parking operations. This role provides essential assistance to full-time office staff by delivering front-line customer service, managing and routing inbound service requests, assigning work tickets, and completing a range of administrative and clerical tasks necessary for efficient daily operations.

In addition, the Office and Field Operations Assistant supports field operations staff by covering eligible parking attendant shifts in garages and surface lots, conducting routine audits of parking facilities, and issuing parking citations in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local regulations. The position requires the ability to effectively transition between office and field environments while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational continuity by supplementing staffing needs, reducing overtime burden on full-time and hourly employees, and supporting consistent enforcement practices. Through these efforts, the Office and Field Operations Assistant contributes to improved parking compliance, equitable service delivery, and enhanced public safety. The position also provides students with practical, hands-on experience in customer service, administrative operations, and field enforcement within a structured organizational setting.

 

Maintenance Assistant - Penn Transit

Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Penn Transit Services (PTS) Maintenance Supervisor, the PTS Maintenance Assistant supports the cleaning, routine maintenance, and safe operation of all motor vehicles under Penn Transit Services (PTS) care and supervision. This role plays a key part in maintaining fleet readiness by performing basic on-site maintenance tasks and assisting with vehicle transport to off-site repair facilities when needed.

The position requires attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fleet operations environment that supports essential transportation services for the University community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the cleaning and routine maintenance of all PTS motor vehicles.
  • Perform minor on-site maintenance tasks, including adding fluids, checking lights, inspecting safety equipment, and general vehicle upkeep.
  • Conduct visual inspections to help ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and operational.
  • Assist with transporting vehicles that cannot be repaired on-site to approved repair facilities.
  • Follow all University, divisional, and departmental safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of PTS operations.
