SEPTA Single-Ride Fare Increase
On November 21, SEPTA approved a 7.5% fare increase, effective December 1, 2024. Per SEPTA’s announcement:
- The Travel Wallet fare on buses, subways, and trolleys is now $2.50, the same as the cash fare.
- Most single-trip fares on Regional Rail have increased to align Travel Wallet and Quick Trip pricing.

Note that this change does NOT impact SEPTA Monthly Passes (City TransPass+, Zones 1-3, and Anywhere Passes).
Employees who pay for SEPTA single fares with their personal credit/debit card or cash need to take no action but will see the fare increase. However, employees taking advantage of the following Penn Commuter Benefits program may wish to consider the following:
- To update your PATCO Freedom Share Card funding allocation, log in to the Commuter Benefits portal by the 19th of a given month; updates will be effective on the first day of the following month. For example, changes made by December 19, 2024, will be effective January 1, 2025.
- To update your Health Equity Commuter Card funding allocation, log into the Health Equity/WageWorks portal by the 10th of a given month; updates will be effective on the first day of the following month. For example, changes made by December 10, 2024, will be effective January 1, 2025.
