SEPTA Sets Monthlong Trolley Blitz

Penn Transit Services Monday 2/23 Penn Bus will run on its regular routes and schedules today. Penn Accessible Transit (PAT) services will resume at 6 PM; Evening Safety Shuttles will resume at 7:30 PM. Due to weather conditions, both PAT and Evening Safety Shuttle will operate on limited service on major roadways only. SEPTA’s annual Trolley Tunnel Blitz will begin Friday, July 11 at 10 PM and end Monday, August 11 at 6 AM.

During this monthlong closure, the following Subway-Surface Trolleys will be rerouted to bypass the tunnel, starting and ending at the 40th and Market Street station.

Route 10 [T1]
Route 34 [T2]
Route 13 [T3]
Route 11 [T4]
Route 36 [T5]

For connections to and from Center City, use the Market-Frankford [L] subway line or the 21 or 42 buses.

The Trolley Blitz allows SEPTA crews to perform critical track and power maintenance, cleaning, and upgrades. This year’s closure is longer than usual to accommodate PennDOT work designed to reduce outage frequency. No Trolley Blitz is planned for summer 2026.
